After discovering the existence of trail cameras, commonly used by hunters to track prey, I embarked on a journey into their history. Inspired by early 1900's night photography, I explore the physical act of taking a photograph and the relation of nature photography to preservation.

Early night photography was a quite violent act, using a small explosion of magnesium to generate light. This moment of startling interruption, and the subsequent "capture" of the confused animal, combined to form hauntingly beautiful photographs.
